Module 1: I Am From...
This is a traumatic and difficult history. At the same time, it is a history of collaboration, solidarity, and struggle. There have been setbacks and many accomplishments. If we—all of us—are to continue the work for equality and freedom begun by our ancestors, we need to come together so that we might become the history of a different future. We believe that observing the 400th anniversary of Jamestown is such an opportunity. The ritualistic and emotional power of an anniversary observance will help each of us consider how our own lives and histories are rooted in and shaped by this past. When we come together in this history we have the opportunity to reshape ourselves and our world. These actions echo into the future.
